Sivananda-Yoga
Sivananda-Zentrum in Montreal.

Sivananda-Yoga
This is one of the largest schools of yoga in the world and is oriented towards the meditative and spiritual. "One gram of practice is better than a ton of theory" was one of the favourite sayings of Yoga Master Sivananda. In 1957 Master Sivananda sent his student Vishnu Devananda to North America with the following words: "Many souls in the East are reborn in the West. Go and awaken their consciousness and bring them back to the path of yoga." Devananda travelled many miles, learned yoga, and founded the first Sivananda Centre in Montreal. Today there are almost 30 ashrams and centres worldwide, among others in Berlin, Munich, and Reith in the Tyrol. The Sivananda program is comprised of twelve classic exercises, for example, the headstand. Those who enjoy experimentation can go to the Reith Centre, participate in an intensive program, and become a yoga instructor in four weeks - for many this is their introduction to the yoga philosophy.
